11/1/18 Press Release
Chantilly Robotics FRC Team 612
Coming off from a successful 2018, Chantilly Robotics FRC Team 612 is starting off our new season strong. To best start this season
we want to focus on educating new members through a pre-build season challenge, which will prepare each subteam for the upcoming build
season in January, when the 2019 game will be revealed. We will then participate in a pre-build season challenge to utilize what we have
learned throughout our meetings.
At the end of the 2018 game, we analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of our team. We used this knowledge to synthesize an official
code of conduct to demonstrate our values and allow us to improve our team.
Our team kicked off the new season this summer, when we volunteered at Charge Ahead, a summer program where rising freshman are
introduced to Chantilly High School and its extracurricular activities. We also participated in IROC (ILITE Robotics’ Off-season Competition),
a preseason competition which gives new members an idea of what competition is like. Additionally, we held our first FIRST Lego League
(FLL) Launch Practice, an event where we educated new FLL teams about the competition. We plan to make this a yearly event along with our
annual FLL Tournament. For this year’s Homecoming, we had a float in the Homecoming Parade and a booth at an event for school clubs
called Taste of Chantilly. At these events we promoted our team to students and our local community. Another event we attended includes Air
and Scare at the Udvar-Hazy Center on October 20th. At this event, we showcased our robot and introduce FIRST to visiting families.
In order to continue to spread the values of FIRST and STEAM throughout Northern Virginia we need the financial support of
organizations. Sponsors are the foundation of our work, enabling us to change the lives of the people around us by giving them new
opportunities in STEAM fields they would not have otherwise. If you are interested in donating, please email us at

or go to chantillyrobotics.org for more information. We are also interested in “volunteer grants” if your company offers that.
